Important Properties of Polyurea

Fast Reaction Time
Nukote Polyureas' reaction times (5-15 seconds) are faster than any traditional coating product, providing advantages that include the ability to return areas to service immediately after application.

 

Moisture and Temperature Insensitivity
Nukote polyureas are completely moisture and temperature insensitive, allowing for continuous application even in extreme environments. Nukote polyureas apply and perform to specification in climates ranging from tropical to sub-artic and everywhere in between.

 

Excellent Adhesion
Nukote polyureas' adhesion is outstanding, far surpassing levels provided by traditional products, providing the end-user with longer lasting protection regardless of the substrate, enhanced permeability and increased resistance to cathodic disbondment.

 

Seamless Membrane
Nukote polymers chemically crosslink when applied to themselves, producing a seamless, single layer, monolithic coating system after installation. The majority of coating failures are found at seams and layer interfaces. The fact that Nukote polymers have no seams or layers greatly reduces the potential for failures.

 

Superior Elongation & Tensile Strength
Nukote polyureas' elongation and tensile properties are ideal in applications where substrate shifting or movement occurs. In pipelines, tanks, concrete structures, and similar project types, these characteristics are not just desirable but required to ensure protection over the projects design life.

 

Low to Zero Volatile Organic Content
Nukote polyureas are formulated to contain either low levels or zero levels of volatile organic content (VOC). This feature allows it to be applied even under the strictest environmental regimens and in applications where contamination is not acceptable, including potable-water and the food processing and beverage manufacturing industries.

 

High Abrasion Resistance
Nukote polyureas’ anti-abrasion properties protect surfaces to which they are applied, even in extreme conditions ranging from interiors of cement mixers, rail cars and barges, where abrasion is both intense and constant.

 

Heat and Fire Resistance
Nukote polyureas perform even when exposed to elevated temperatures or fire, resisting distortion and sagging. Nukote even formulates a polyurea product that provides complete intumescent properties for use in Zone 1 environments.

 

Stability
Nukote polyureas are designed to perform over the project design life term, regardless of exposures to weather, ultraviolet salt spray, etc.

 

Environmental Protection
Nukote polyureas are approved for use even in environmentally protected areas. The product is 100% inert after application.

 

Nukote Metalshield
In applications with extreme corrosion, abrasion, or temperature exposures, Nukote Metalshield products are ideal. This polymer contains metal and ceramics in solution and is effective even in high sulphur and hydrocarbon exposures.
